Best value for a Fiver - CAS Trust

Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust has been formed to give fans a voice and to act as positive force to help preserve Charlton Athletic Football Club for its fans and community.

Charlton fans are widely attribute with being among the first fans and club to widely utilise fan participation. To begin with this was inspired by an epic struggle to return CAFC to it’s historic home, however this partnership between fans and Board went on to preside over a dramatic reversal in the clubs fortunes culminating in a return to the top flight in a Premier Class stadium for a number of years. Charlton now occupy the Championship (tier 2 of the English League) after a two year spell in League 1 (tier 3) which ended in them winning the League 1 title.

The Club changed hands in January 2014 after former owners Tony Jiminez and Michael Slater sold the club to Belgian businessman Roland Duchâtelet with other former owner Richard Murray staying on as a non-executive Chairman.

Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust was formed on the 20th anniversary of the clubs return to the Valley on 5 December 2012.  It celebrated its launch that day, also marking the anniversary in the clubs bar Bartram’s.

Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust is committed to being a representative, professional, independent, democratic and accountable body.

As outlined in the second meeting of the interim steering group, the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust aims:

“To Preserve Charlton Athletic Football Club for This and Future Generations”.

This is broken down as follows:

  • To give the fans a voice and represent their interests in the running of the Club.
  • To actively support Charlton Athletic Football Club in achieving success both on and off the pitch.
  • To assist in preserving the long term future of the Club, it’s history, culture, values and identity in our Community.
